TRADITIONAL SPOKESHAVE WITH ADJUSTABLE BLADE

This beautiful spokeshave is an upgrade of the Stanley and Record versions that have become so popular over the last decades. Both the body and the blade cap are sand cast of solid bronze and polished to a gleaming luster. A little less than ten inches long and weighing about sixteen ounces, this spokeshave is the perfect size for most of those “shaving” operations. The sole of the spokeshave is flat {I hope to offer a rounded sole version soon}.

The hardware is of stainless steel and brass offering a pleasing contrast to the bronze and, of course, corrosion resistance.

The blade is 3/32″ thick {50% thicker than those commonly found on Stanleys and the like}, about 2 1/8 inches wide and made of hardened “O-1” tool steel that comes ground and honed ready for use.

BRONZE SPOKESHAVE WITH ADJUSTABLE NOSE {NARROW}

This flat bottom spokeshave is cast in solid bronze and comes with a fixed blade which serves as the sole. This shave measures about 10 3/8 inches long and weighs approximately 14 ounces. The polished handles fit the hands comfortably for either pushing or pulling. An adjustable bronze nose piece is set for depth of cut by means of two stainless steel socket head cap screws set in slots on either end of the nose piece. Many experienced craftsmen set this nose piece at a slight angle which allows fine shavings on one side and a more aggressive cut on the other without further adjustment.

The blade is made of hardened “O-1” tool steel measuring 1/8 inch thick, 2 inches wide and 3/4 inches deep {from the cutting edge to the back}. The blade comes ground and honed ready for use.

BRONZE SPOKESHAVE WITH ADJUSTABLE NOSE {WIDE}

I offer another shave similar to the one directly above. The handles have a slightly different contour but the main difference is that of the blade being a full 1 inch deep from cutting edge to the rear. This extra length limits its use to only the shallowest of concave surfaces but it is very nice indeed on convex curves.
